The Transfiguration of Our Lord on March 2, 2025
Deuteronomy 34:1-12
Hebrews 3:1-6
Luke 9:28-36 The Transfiguration
28 Now about eight days after these sayings he took with him Peter and John and James and went up on the mountain to pray. 29 And as he was praying, the appearance of his face was altered, and his clothing became dazzling white. 30 And behold, two men were talking with him, Moses and Elijah, 31 who appeared in glory and spoke of his departure,[a] which he was about to accomplish at Jerusalem. 32 Now Peter and those who were with him were heavy with sleep, but when they became fully awake they saw his glory and the two men who stood with him. 33 And as the men were parting from him, Peter said to Jesus, “Master, it is good that we are here. Let us make three tents, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah”—not knowing what he said. 34 As he was saying these things, a cloud came and overshadowed them, and they were afraid as they entered the cloud. 35 And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is my Son, my Chosen One;[b] listen to him!” 36 And when the voice had spoken, Jesus was found alone. And they kept silent and told no one in those days anything of what they had seen.

LIFE TOGETHER
VISITORS: We are so glad you joined us today. We collect offerings during our worship services. While we
believe this is a chance for each believer to be a good steward of the gifts they have received from God, you are welcome but not expected to give an offering while you are our guest. If you would like to learn more about the Lord’s ministry here at Trinity please call Pastor Rutz.
He would love to get acquainted and visit at a time that is convenient for you. You are also invited to join members in the fellowship hall after this morning’s service.
Attendance Cards: Visitors and members are asked to fill out an attendance card and to list names of each family member in attendance. Turn in your card at the back of the church at the end of the service.
On Sundays when there is Holy Communion please list the names of those who will be communing on the Holy Communion registration side of the card. Hand it to an usher as you go up for communion.
If you have moved or your phone number or email address have changed, please note any changes on the attendance card so that we can update our records in the office.
Weekly bulletins, announcements, and sermons continue to be available on the church website.
Children in the Divine Service Sheets are available from the basket in the back of the church. Parents are encouraged to read these to/with their children. Each week will have a short explanation of a different part of the church service or about something found in the church. They are other way to aid parents in teaching their children.
Daylight Saving Time begins next Sunday, March 9. Remember to set your clocks ahead one hour before going to bed Saturday night.
The Hand of the Lord is the theme for this year’s Lenten Series. Ushers will be handing out a devotion book at the end of the service that goes with the series. One booklet per family, please.

Building Healthy Families: Parents, grandparents and pew buddies—the season of Lent is one of repentance, a turning away from our sins and the things that take our focus off Jesus. When we repent, we confess our sins and ask for forgiveness, making this a fitting time to focus on confession and absolution in the worship service. For younger children, explain that this is the part of the service where we tell God we’re sorry for the things we’ve done wrong and encourage a simple, “I’m sorry, God.” At home, take time as a family to read and discuss the words we and the pastor use during this part of the service. Once you have confessed your sins, don’t forget to help children listen for God’s words of forgiveness in the absolution! Lutheran Family Service www.LutheranFamilyService.org
